Chembra peak

Wayanad, Kerala

This is first time I am writing a blog, and thank you troviday.com for creating a travel blog for travelers to write their travel experience and show it to the world.

So let me start with my travel blog.

I’m basically from Kerala “God’s own country”, I have a lot to tell about the tourist places in Kerala just now I will tell about one place “Chembra Peak” in wayanad district, this was my 5th trekking and it was most memorable.

First I will tell something about wayanad.

Wayanad:

Wayanad District is the 12th District of Kerala. The name Wayanad is derived from Vayal Nadu which means the land of paddy fields. It is a picturesque plateau situated at a height between 700 meters and 2100 meters above the mean sea. About 885.92.sq.km of area is under forest. This District is perhaps one of the biggest foreign exchange earners of the State, with its production of cash crops like pepper, cardamom, coffee, tea, spices and other condiments.

Chembra peak:

It is the highest peak in Wayanad at 2,050m (6,730 ft.) above sea level. Chembra is located near to Meppady town. You have to take permission from meppady forest office before going for trekking at peak. Overnight camping is not allowed as there is a threat from lurking wild animals.

My trip was on one saturay of December, we started by 9 am to meppady, from there a road to chembra estate which was endless tea estate.

Reach there by 11-12 afternoon. We took permission and entry ticket. The entry fee for the day trek was Rs.500 for group of 10. We got a guide with us (forgot his name), we parked our car near to the check post and walked up. It took almost 3 - 4 hrs. one side. Initial everybody was walking so faster with fully energetic, after climbing up good distance started breathing faster. We moved up very quickly without wasting anytime by encouraging each other, at that time found grass land with water source, we warm up from there and again started walking up, after some time we reached near heart shaped lake.

It is believed to have not dried ever not even summer season. We clicked some pictures. It was almost 3:00 pm so guide asked to go back, because of wild animals. So we return from there it was slippery so everyone started falling down one after the other. At that time we found another water source in between rock sip some water and started our journey we reach down by almost 6:00pm. This was one of my best trip experience.

If you are an admirer of soothing natural beauty and if you love to have an adventure trip, then Chembra Peak is will be best.

Thank you for reading my post, now start writing your own travel experience. :)  E
